Amish Schoolhouse

I thought this image was appropriate since school is starting around the country.  So for all the kids out there that think they have a lousy school or all the parents that might think this, then they need to take a close look here.  This is one of the Amish schoolhouses we drove by.  Remember there is no electricity so you probably don’t get a laptop or a smart white board.  On the upside you don’t have to sit and watch any of those dreadful science movies from the fifties.  The only heat would be from the fireplace (notice the chimmney).  The other small white building to the right is where you have to go, when you have to go.  I’m sure when it’s 20 degrees outside most kids hold it all day.

This is just a small out building but I love the way the craggy old tree looks against the stark grey sky.  And as you can see in the background distance it’s nothing but rolling fields and mountains all around.  This is Rural America at it’s best.  A look back in time 150 years ago.  I think it’s pretty cool.  I would love to retire here, but my fear is that if I ever needed an ambulance I’d be dead before they could get to my house.  Oh well, I can always visit.
